I don’t get how he keeps getting work. He’s viewed as some guy with like sources and insights, but I can’t think of a single rumor he’s heard that he got right. I really don’t understand. Didn’t he just say CP was going to be a Laker? Or Rondo was going to the Clippers?

If not that, feels like he just picks fights with players to make headlines. #outtamyweightclass

But for example, I had suggested the Clippers–provided they failed to get Ibaka–could have used their 9.3M MLE on a combo like:
– 900k for Oturu’s rookie deal (using MLE it can run for 3-4 seasons instead of just 2)
– 4.2M backup C
– 4.2M backup SF

I talked about this briefly a couple of days ago–the idea that rather than trading Lou’s 8M for someone else making a similar amount, they could seek to save money against the hard cap. This would give them the flexibility to use the BAE as well as package those 2nd round picks (from the Knicks and from the Pistons) with LAC’s trade exceptions to try and add other players.

But the straight downgrade from Lou to Reggie isn’t worth it. IMO, LAC would need moves lined up to bring in a collection of players into that hard cap wiggle room that they honestly think makes them a better team and more likely to win this title.

Hey Lucas, If the Clippers sign Batum. How about trading Lou to the Knicks for draft assets and a trade exception. Clippers can resign Reggie Jackson for the minimum to help replace some of Lou's production. This writer suggests second round picks. Knicks second round picks are pretty valuable. Agreed. Being a Clippers fan is a lonely path, but it would be unbearable without this site. I personally know 6 other fans. I certainly shoot the shit with them too but for the most part we share the same perspective and it becomes an echo chamber. Lucas & co and all the rest of you turkey eaters often throw out possibilities I’ve never contemplated. It’s fun to learn, and I’m grateful.
