They can’t plan on anything with Kawhi. I doubt we will have any real updates on his injury progress until like December at the earliest, which is already a month or two into the season.

I really like option 2. Getting to the playoffs with a battle hardened team,without Kawhi and maybe getting even home court advange would be amazing.

And then who would want to play that team, plus Kawhi (rusty or not) in a 7-game series?

The problem is the inconsistency. I'm fine w/ letting them play physical, but you can't let them play physical only during the postseason, and only on the inside, and you can't let only some guys play physical while tightly reffing the others. It just makes for an uneven viewing experience, and pisses off fans who still remember the Donaghy scandal that the NBA never really fully addressed.

I think folks are a little too optimistic about 1. Six months seems the absolutely soonest he could be ready for practice and then he needs at least a month if not more to ramp up.

2 and 3 are effectively the same since he’ll be rusty and not fully recovered. You have to plan for 3 as the base case and then an earlier return is just gravy.

Yeah that no call where Booker bear hugged Jrue on that layup attempt was the most atrocious thing we’ve seen this playoffs and that is saying much. The NBA needs to get a handle on this because it is bad. Calling fouls where guys kick out their legs and are barely touched on 3 pt shot contests but letting guys get hammered going to the basket with no calls. It doesn’t make sense. I get the playoffs are physical but if they are going to let the guys play physical with no fouls to continue then they need to stop calling the ticky tack shit. also, I’m so sick and tired of the foul call where the shooter jumps forward into the defender to create contact and get a foul. NBA needs to address that as well.

Very unfortunate news but I am certain that it was the best option for Kawhi’s health and I am also partly certain that it wasn’t as bad as it could be, otherwise the surgery would have taken place earlier. It is possible that rehab was attempted and it didn’t go as planned.

This leaves us with three scenarios.

1) Kawhi returns somewhere mid season.
2) Kawhi returns just before the playoffs.
3) Kawhi misses the entirety of next season.

With options 1 & 2 it is business as usual. Get the team in the best possible shape for Kawhi’s return.

Option 3 is the dark cloud but we will have to try to remain competitive regardless.

In all scenarios, Kawhi needs to remain a Clipper!

CP3 had a horrible game. That being said, Suns fans are insufferable. To begin w/, they don’t make it this far w/o him.

P.S. The refs let Devin Booker have something like 9 fouls. NBA REALLY didn’t want him to foul out at the end.
