I wouldn’t be that against that. I mean this team has no use for Jimmy, but a decent pick package plus a guy you can rehab his value. Maybe he can return by the deadline and you can extract another pick for him. At least a few 2nd rounders, for a desperate team at the deadline.

Some of the best foul baiters and game manipulator the league has seen.

It’s disappointing because they are so talented and SGA is so good that means they can win games anyway. But the way they manipulate the plays on both sides of the floor is just…jarring.
I think they might go on to win the whole thing again. But if I can root for SAS, MIN, NYK, DET, I will do that in a heartbeat.
Let’s see. Hope someone cracks their code and make them mortal again.

Even if you add like KD or AD, I don’t think puts them into contender status. If those guys are healthy, maybe you could shoot for like the 4th seed, and hope for some injury luck, but feels like the Clippers have been trying that for the past 5 years.

I’m curious what Kawhi’s market is, and what would the Clippers consider in a deal. Feels like the Clippers really value Kawhi, and wouldn’t part with him easily. I think I would be looking for at a minimum:

  1. 3 unprotected/minimally protected FRP from a good team
  2. 2 FRP if one is projected in the top 10
  3. Young All-Star (Mobley, Sengun) + a FRP

I mean Zu they were able to extract 2 FRP. But Zu being younger on a great contract, probably means their value is similar. Kawhi will be tough to match salary, and being 35 with extensive injury history, maybe you’re left taking a similar return as Zu. I don’t know if the Clippers would agree to this though.

The only thing we are currently competing for is a play in spot and we can realize those low expectations just by bringing some more youth and energy into the fold. It would be insane to hold onto Kawhi. It was a miracle that he played 65 games last season and he needs to be on a contending team where usage is spread out among multiple stars.

If you just look at the play of some key forwards: Jaden McDaniels and OG Anunoby are better than Kawhi. Their two way play confirms that. You’d have to replace the ability to get buckets, but the gap there might not be as big as one might think given what’s available in this draft.

By selling high, to my mind that means getting a first round pick in this 2026 draft as the baseline starting point.

Who has a lottery pick in this draft that might be a good trading partner?: Atlanta, Miami, Milwaukee, GSW, OKC. The other lottery teams might not be places Kawhi would want to go, but they could be leveraged as part of a 3 team trade to get him where he would like to end up while LAC gets a lottery pick.
