I want to go younger and I know Lue will play CP3 too may minutes and in clutch/crunch time situations. The guys we pick up have to be two way capable. CP3 is not that at this stage of his career.

This year’s free agency/trading window has the potential to be wild and upend the league. Clippers have to make very good decisions, which they did last summer (they just messed up at the trading deadline).

There are many options out there, but the chance to get a credible #4, credible backup #1 and a solid backup #5 are there for the taking.

The fact that they’re not wedded to keeping Norm is a good sign.

This Run It Back show featuring him and Chandler Parsons is the best show going for my taste. Michelle Beadle does a great job of being smart and attractive without being just eye candy. The show also translates well from TV to pod format. Check it out.

But, it was the second to the last play of the game that really cot my interest. It was the TO challenge call where Pascal knocked the ball out. During that TO it was reported that if OKC got possession on the challenge call and then missed their shot attempt, that ‘cers would not call their own TO to set up their potentially winning shot attempt. The thinking was: not let OKC set up their D to defend the last shot. Pretty savvy I’d say given OKCs rep for stout, swarming, aggressive D.

Turned out that was a Carlisle stroke of genius. So I’ll throw this out for discussion: Would TyLue have made that same call? I think not–as he usually goes the conservative route and wants to talk about things. Cudos to RCarlisle. And speaking of Carlisle, who’s that attractive blond gal assistant coach who seems very active on that staff?

We’ve seen this many times over the years where a burgeoning dynasty blows game 1 and they roar back and steamroll to the title anyway. But this felt like an actual strategy by Carlisle to use hockey substations to wear them down and steal it late. They turned the ball over 24 times but their transition D on those turnovers was the special. Siakam got to any spot he wanted and missed normally great looks for him. I don’t expect that to be the case in game 2.

Dort was unconscious from 3 and Shai–although not that efficient—had a monster game too. If they’d simply been flat and the Pacers played out of their minds it wouldn’t be that noteworthy. But Indiana can play a LOT better than this and I’m not sure OKC has that much better of a game in them. At least there’s some intrigue now in what we all expected to be a lopsided finals.

Haliburton is on a generational run of hitting insanely clutch shots this postseason, and I don’t want to see OKC profit any more from our misfortune.

Seeing him in a Lakers jersey would sting a bit, but it’s been long enough and the Clippers aren’t really contenders w/o something insane happening, so I wouldn’t hold it against CP3 if he wanted to join his banana-boat buddy LeBron.

It will be interesting to see if he chooses his buddy LeBron and the Laker brand or the nostalgia of returning to the Clippers. With Luka and LeBron being so ball dominant that might not be as much fun for him. He would have a bigger role here.
