A lot of people cross their fingers and hope Terance can ‘make the leap’ every year, but I feel like he already did- from 4-year college player/ 2nd round pick to a genuine quality NBA player who will have a 10 to 10+ year career. I don’t think he has the lateral quickness or quick release to be too much more than he already is (which is fine!)

He’s a really smart player with a good motor, and is able to score at good efficiency because of that. But he’ll never be a prolific scorer, guys like KPJ or even Bones can score more points than Terance but are definitely lesser players. His per 36 PPG has been pretty consistent for his career, he’s capable of a little higher but probably not much.

The last thing I’d say about TMann is that he’s a pure shooter–far from it. If he could somehow develop a more aggressive offensive mindset, that’d help. But I’m skeptical that we’ll ever see improved outside shooting results from him.

Just let it fly.
T-Mann’s skillset with Mike Miller’s mentality will be the best combination.
Listen to his press a bit and he seems bored not playing meaningful basketball.
Dude will figure things out and enjoy doing it. Can’t wait.

Ha–amusing. I listened to the pod after writing the above earlier today.

I tried to lay out some of the reasons why I think TMann will take a meaningful step, but they’re buried in the weeds. So here’s a clearer version.

–Not injured to start the season. (Not mentioned on the pod. A big part of last year’s overall numbers.)
–A clear role and a starter. Significantly increased minutes. Playing with a great point guard. (No Westbrook, no John Wall.)
–Increased usage with Paul George gone, and a more important role on the team. Vying to be the 3rd best player.

T Mann has become a much better outside shooter over the course of 5 seasons, but the progress has been slow. He was hesitant getting started. And then later he remained too willing to defer, playing with better and more willing shooters like Paul George, The focus will be on him to take that step, and that should result in a significant uptick.

I don’t know if I’d call my take on Mann pessimistic (on the overall Clippers’ season, yes). He’s nearly 28 and has produced at the same level for four years on a lot of minutes. It’s doubtful he takes a meaningful step forward this year.

I was definitely too high on Reaves last year, but because he’s younger and has a lot more creation and scoring equity than Terance I’m sure most teams would take him over Mann.

Just listened to the pod and Rob’s somewhat pessimistic take on Mann this upcoming season. I’m pretty sure Terance will beat his 2021 season numbers and play. Rob pointed out Mann’s ridiculous stats in 2pt range and restricted area. Basically, he’s the opposite of Luke Kennard with the same issue. Instead of a ridiculous 3pt threat, he’s a huge 2pt threat and both didn’t to move instantly when given the ball. I’m not sure if it is hesitation like in Luke’s case, or that Mann simply was never given the green light. He really needs to own his chances this season. The starting 2 spot will most definitely be in high contention. Even though he already got paid, Mann has to take this opportunity to build up his career for the next contract. He needs to get Bruce Brown money.
