I like Amir but I feel he holds himself back. Is it due to his own thinking or is it how Lue uses (refuses to use) young players?

Frank has boxed in Lue this year. Lue is being forced to play younger players. Let’s see how Lue does. Maybe it will enhance Lue as a coach. Hopefully, it will.

*We* wish lol. Tobi was a bad asset on Philly because of his max contract and the expectations that came w/ it. If Amir could reproduce Tobi’s game on Amir’s much smaller contract we’d probably solidly be a playoff team this season.

Yeah, it’s been awful watching these younger guys not getting appropriate chances. And as you point out, it was especially bad after Amir had that great run when the roster was depleted. I believe he scored 32 and 35 in the same week.

As an aside, this is another reason I clench my teeth when wiriters talk about how great a coach Ty Lue is. A great coach would have developed young guys’ potential.

There’s something about Ty that’s a buzz kill for young players. Amir was just on fire 21/22 putting up huge numbers especially on threes and then the following year he was riding the pine for months. We’ve seen this with Zu and also Terance and I also believe Bones. If you are constantly keeping young guys out of the rotation and restricting their minutes and touches they will tighten up and often times become broken. I don’t think it’s because Ty is “mean” I think it’s more a product of his serious and introverted demeanor. One has to guess what he’s thinking at all times which would be unnerving to play for.
