I like Norm Powell. He is our Vinnie Johnson. He’s instant offense just like the “Microwave”. Same body type. Vinnie Johnson didn’t play defense either. Neither did Jamal or Lou Williams. The extraordinary 6th men don’t excel at defense. They come in and score.

As far as Porter, Jr. goes, I would trade for him and 1st round picks. I don’t believe he is ever going to be on an NBA court ever again. He’s going to jail. He broke the girl’s neck. Besides jail time, there are going to be civil penalties. This incident will drag on for years.

I don’t think the Clips will ever do this as Ballmer doesn’t seem to be the type to do a deal like that. Gaining draft picks would be nice, but it isn’t going to happen.

We’re only a few weeks out from camp so unless there’s some unforeseeable bombshell move I think this is the team we will have to start the season. It appears the objective is to field a team that can make the playoffs and get the hell out of Crypto. A lot of scribes are talking about all this pressure for Ballmer to have a contender entering intuit but I digress. This thing is going to be like opening the Mirage Casino in Vegas to where folks are going to turn out for the experience of it all. This is a team preparing to rebuild. The hope is probably that someone will offer some draft capital for one or more of our HOF vets at the trade deadline. Hoping I’m wrong but it’s looking pretty meh.

No no, your post was clear – I understand we’d be getting draft capital back. My bad because my post obviously wasn’t clear enough. I’m saying regardless of the draft capital coming back (unless we’re getting an unprotected first lol), I would only want to send them MM. There is no realistic trade for me that would result in me being happy to ship out either of RoCo or Nico before dumping MM. Shipping out MM is priority #1 for me. Given how this offseason has gone, getting MM away from Ty is now the only transaction I have left to look forward to.

…I would also accept the FO not trading MM away immediately, if they told him to stay home, but that’s probably even more unlikely than trading him.

The Clips should get more than draft capital for taking on KPJ’s contract to cut. Rockets would be in no position to negotiate.

Morris ONLY for KPJ + draft picks would make more sense.

Taking on KPJ’s contract to cut would hurt the Clippers future cap space.

If I were the GM, I’d want Cam Whitmore and KPJ for Morris and Preston. That’d be like KPJ’s cap space going to Whitmore.

It is true that they are not so closely related as you posit. However, that is different than saying that a superior athlete is not capable of being a superior defender.

With coaching, effort and focus, a plus athlete should be able to be a plus defender. The athletes who are awful defenders are ones who have never worked to understand how to play defense, have never been properly coached on this discipline, or simply refuse to put in the effort during the game.

I guess my post wasn’t clear enough … the clips would be getting draft capital from the Rockets for taking on kpj contract. A couple of 2nd rd picks or a protected 1st for Roco & Amir is a good deal IMO.

I mean, KPJ is a scumbag and I want nothing to do w/ him, but *if* the Clips are gonna send out an expiring for him + draft picks, I would be even more angry if our FO sent out RoCo instead of MM.
