Great backup big who consistently brings good effort

In general, I’d easily take JRue. Yeah, yeah, Harden is the bigger talent, individual accolades blah blah – how often do we see that when it matters?

Then there’s locker room fit. Drama. Attitude. Salary expectations and consequently tradability after the deal expires –> JRue and for me personally it’s not close. Consistent versatile team player who’s elite on defense all day, every day

So in this scenario couldn’t we send ROCO expiring-12mil
Coffey-3.5
And Preston 2mil or whatever it is ? Then blazers don’t have to take on norm?

“PHI:
Jrue $36.8M
LAC:
Harden $35.6M
POR:
Norman $18M (3yrs left,
Marcus Morris $17.1M expiring (Would waive immediately)
2028 1st from PHI
2028 1st from LAC

We save $1.7M instantly. According to BFS1970, that would put us under the tax.
We waive that nut case Morris. We look to flip Norman. Maybe even to HOU for KPJ and assets. Who to be clear we’d also waive immediately”

Bucks likely could have made the deal contingent

So, do you think the Clips were invited in on this deal and declined? Or that the Clips were never invited in at all?

Morey’s asking price for Harden is probably at least three 1sts and some talent. I think we could get Jrue for our two firsts and Mann/filler for sure. Maybe less. This is pure speculation but I think this deal for Jrue might be easier than we think—especially since the Bucks likely could have made the deal contingent upon a favorable landing spot for him (hometown LA).

“Holiday, Norman Powell, Marcus Morris Sr., and Clippers’ firsts in 2028 and 2030 to Philly–Harden to Clippers–Harris, and 2 FRPs to Portland.”

Harden may yet find a way to get here

The only way I would be on board getting either one of those guys, if it would ensure that Westbrook’s ass stays glued to the bench which would not be unreasonable request provided we had a competent coach but Ty lacks competence so Westbrook will play a ton. Re-signing Westbrook this offseason was the FO’s biggest blunder outside of getting rid of MM Sr. I don’t care how cheap we got Westbrook for this offseason, his presence derails the effectiveness of any star guard we could get in a trade.

The only reason I even really wanted Harden was because the Clippers were offering a bag of stale peanuts for him. Jrue on the other hand is 1. an All-NBA level defender, 2. not a malcontent, and 3. isn’t necessarily an expiring deal (player option after this season). He won’t come cheap.

Honestly I expect other teams to outbid the Clippers for him. I’ll be happy as long as the FO trades away/banishes MM – is that really so much to ask?
