Tmann and Coffey definitely success stories but oturu FI and the thousands of others were wastes of draft Capitol.
We only have 1 roster spot available , I’d rather keep it open for wall or a proven ring chaser.
If we open up another roster spot I’m down with making the pick and putting him on the roster. Preston and Boston to a point are non proven , if we make the pick he’s getting the last roster spot right?
I don’t think we’d make the selection and ask the drafted player to take one of the 2way roster spots am I correct?
And yes totally agree about taking a flyer on some youth when our future is way short of future picks.
So basically it comes down how you guys feel about using the one and only open roster spot on a unproven late 2nd rounder instead of buyout guy, wall, rings chaser dragic nurkic etc, or just vet min player even if the player could” be washed.
Now if your saying our 2nd round pick drafted player can be put on a 2 way contract roster spot and we get to keep our last real roster spot open I’m down. I thought 2way contracts were mainly for undrafted/cut/released players that have no choice but take the 2way or play in gleague/Europe/alternate leagues.

If the Clippers wind up making like a million trades and it shakes out that they need a minimum salary big to actually play minutes, Blake can get on the list (but wouldn’t be at the top of it). But when no role exists anyway, why not go young and play the long game to try and make up for not having any picks going forward?

Boston has played an 8 or 9-man rotation all playoffs. 10th/11th men are, I guess, for emergencies, with Nesmith grabbing some odds and ends and Stauskas not so much. 12/13/14/15 are Luke Kornet (26 y/o), Malik Fitts (24), Sam Hauser (24), and Juwan Morgan (24).

The Clippers are going to have more depth/balance than this Celtics team, but yeah, I’m taking the long-term gamble on 43rd pick in this draft in that 15th spot over a vet like Blake 100 times out of 100.

Through all the bullshit he changed our culture and would love to see him ride a potential clipper wave to our first possible championship! We got tons of shooting and bg32 can still pass the ball and be a decent role playing vet.

Now 15 is the limit right? 2 extra for the 2ways = 17.
So hypothetically we only have 1 reg roster spot open and 2 2way spots? The one roster spot open could be for a buy out player or ring chaser , or if we draft a player . My thinking is if healthy we can afford to try and trim a wing or 2 off the team plus our pick to balance our depth out more. However I’m TOTALLY OK IF WE JUST re-sign our guys, make our draft selection and run it back. My personal opinion is that our FO will trim some fat in a trade whether we combine our pick or not to show Kawhi and pg13 that we’re always pushing to get better even with very limited resources. It’s now or nothing clock is ticking time.
Now there might not be any real upgrade out there that we can work a deal for but we all know the FO will try. Morris is expendable and imo again it wouldn’t surprise me if we don’t end up extending Zu and trade him now as he’s in the last year of his deal. We did the same with Beverly. Not the only reason we traded Beverly either but we have to think is Zu in our future?
And at what extent if he is? Contract wise? We gonna play smaller? Is hart more of the new mobile style bigs we want on our team?
Zu and Morris are obvious trade candidates , Luke showed a lot last year but still not sold that the FO values his one way play/shooting for the future. We have a ton of 2way players
ROCO batum Mann norm Morris kawhi pg13 etc. that Luke fits just fine either way but minutes wise how much is he going to get with these other guys getting the nod in the playoffs?
I can go either way on Luke, but surely he’s tradeable after the likes of Morris Zu imo. Luke’s shooting and youth are his pros for sure.
Then there’s Mann who I love, young 2 way player, who could be a decent trade chip to rebuilding teams like pacers and others .
Lotta rabbit holes and options for this team if other teams start making guys available through trade.
I mean maybe I should just ask this main question to you guys…
If you had to throw out a number of probability that we make a trade this summer where you put it? 50% coin flip?
30% we do a decent trade ?
70% ?
I myself see it as more likely we make a move and trim some fat even if it’s a small trade
I’d say 70% but just my gut in how this FO has been operating last couple seasons , always building. The norm and ROCO deal didn’t seem like an end game roster to me, if anything it makes me believe there’s more to come!

Why roster a bad 30+ year old player for that spot, instead of a guy with at least some upside. Maybe I’ve just had enough of the washed up vets since the Doc Rivers era.

It’s nice to have some youth and development on the roster for what feels like the first time since Blake Griffin (I think Mann is the first draft pick to sign an extension with the Clips since Blake, which is pretty crazy to think about). As much as I would love to have Blake back on this team, he’s just not good enough to be a rotational piece in the NBA anymore. If you gave me unlimited roster spots, sure bring him onboard. But with the depth and availability of spots on the Clips roster right now, it just doesn’t make sense.

A quick check shows it’s a misdemeanor to possess for sale less than 8 oz and a felony over that amount (gets worse for several pounds–Trez had 3). So no, in KY it’s a big deal and Trez was taking a risk. And, he could easily assert that a rich guy like him can afford large personal supplies and it would be crazy to think he seems to sell bud to keep afloat. Last, he may also be able to get a drug diversion type deal (KY law provides) if he’s eligible and has good representation. No, Trez, I’m not licensed in KY.

–he’s had his time here so thanks for the memories
–he cold cocked an equipment guy–sayonara
–he mite still be able to hit an outside shot — now and again — but he’s basically washed; heck, he was washed in those ugly Detroit years
–let’s be a forward thinking, win now team and not dwell on the past

But I do think that in the modern NBA, where you get 17 roster spots, a team as old as the Clippers could certainly stand to stay young on the third string. Remember, they got Terance Mann 48th, Amir Coffey as an undrafted free agent, and Brandon Boston (jury still out but he’s promising) at 55th. When you have a role to fill, I’m fine going with veterans. But if we’re talking about a roster spot that is only going to get garbage time + a couple weird, depleted injury games, I’d rather go with pick 43 than Blake Griffin (or any other 30+ vet).
