But I will take a young, durable, defensive oriented glue guy for the perimeter.

He is fine in any of the backcourt positions, his versatility is the key.

I think Utah had some financial reasons as well as I’ve read they have a trade exemption that could of been affected by this deal and that they will prolly use the exception later on to take on a bad contract from somebody for a pick (everybody thought Utah was gonna get some kind of pick for Bogy)
Didn’t even think of the thought that Kelly could be re-flipped by Utah and definitly would be surprised if he’s bought out.
Detroit didn’t need him with Stewart and Duran obviously , Utah could make a case for “needing him to be the starting center”
But in my opinion and why I was a little confused is that Utah should be trying to tank while also developing the young center on there team azubuike..
if we waited this whole time to try and nab olynick and we succeed,
I will be super amazed and stoked !
I’ve always liked olynick as a backup stretch big and I think he could be used plenty on this team to have a big that can stretch the floor and draw joker emblid and others out the paint. Olynick if he were to be bought out (not holding my breathe) should have the clippers as # 1 destination if he signs for the vet min. Look what we did for hart, and we currently have a secure role and roster spot open for him on a deep contenting team. See what happens , Utah could either let him get monster stats on there terrible team and then try and flip him for an asset, or they could buy him out or reflip him now and embrace the tank while also developing their youth(azubuike Vanderbilt NAW jared butler.
I’d embrace the tank and develope personally if it was me.

Hope TMann surprises me with improved ballhandling and decision making. Plus, I’d love for PG to shoot more and handle the ball less as he can be a walking TO.

I think that could be more valuable to this team than developing into a true sharp shooter. If we could get him to become a plus passer and play him at the pg spot, we could surround him with defensive shooters (PG, Leonard, Covington and Batum) and have a really solid switchable defensive line up. As is, our options at the point guard position (reggie and wall) are defensive liabilities. It would be awesome to have a guy like Mann at that spot if he was able to at least create some chaos and get the ball to an open shooter. We’ve been most successful in this era with PG playing that role, but I would love it if Mann, who is quicker and has better stamina, could be that guy, allowing PG to play more off ball and save his energy for defense and end of game play (PG can’t hold up for 40 minutes a game in a series where he is also running the offense; his play gets really sloppy at that point).

Between, Mann, Luke and PG, I feel like we have too many guys that we need to be more aggressive (our team is the best when PG is aggressively driving/decisive with the ball). How can all of these guys be more aggressive at the same time? What would that even look like? Would it hurt our solid ball movement or help it? Ultimately, these guys aren’t the highest BBIQ players and maybe that’s why they are a little apprehensive; they don’t trust their instincts. Anyway, I’m hopeful these guys flourish this year in another season under Ty Lue.

So, either don’t drive in the first place (if you don’t have an opening), take a shot (if you have one) or pass to someone who has. Just be smarter Terrence.

He is a perfect type of top-end role player: smart, strong, versatile, mature and be the the best of his role.
Every great team needs this kind of guy. And we have, at least, one in him.
I guess we have Coffey next as a player preview. I can use most of the words here to explain him.
We move in the right direction. Let’s see how it goes.
