I think we are all (I’m throwing myself in there) expecting too much of Wall.

I think when the chips are down Reggie is the 3rd most important Clipper, but Nico and RoCo are probably better in a vacuum

It’s a hard question to answer as you could make an argument for perhaps 7 players for a variety of reasons. But of course, is the question the 3rd best player or 3rd most important player?

Wall, Reggie and Norm jump out as the obvious choices. Even Morris if you’re looking at scoring.

But Nico and RoCo are up there with their versatility and what they bring to the table that the others don’t.

I know not all agree but I’m a a big Zubac fan so you could put him there, probably at a push though. That would be for 3rd most important rather than best.

Should be Wall, but I suppose we’ll see.

Ehh I don’t think I buy that argument. Of the contenders, Milwaukee is the only one w/ a legit Big 3 in Giannis, Middleton, and Jrue, maybe Denver w/ Jokic, Murray and MPJ, and maaaybe Boston if we count Marcus Smart. I mean sure, if the Clips could trade for a clear-cut third option and alleviate some of the roster crunch that’d be great, but I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary.

Just look at Golden State – sure Draymond is a star, but he isn’t “the guy” behind Steph and Klay. They won w/ a combination of Poole and Wiggins occupying the 3rd guy spot. I think the Clips can mimic that setup between MM, Norm, and Luke.

Read the article if you can. The gist is that come playoffs, the clips will need to have an obvious answer to the 3rd best question to be able to compete with the best of the best. And, the article says the clips will likely be aggressive at the deadline to bring in “that” guy — doesn’t throw out any names but you get the idea.

3rd best? Well, it SHOULD be John Wall; that is if John Wall has enough John Wall left in him. He’s the 3rd best based on the last time I saw him. But who will it be over the course of the season?

Morris is the next best on a stat-wise basis. He puts up some points. But his style contrasts a bit with what the Clips are trying to do. So I think intrinsically he’s not it.

IMO Reggie has been the 3rd best over the past year (and really the best since the top 2 were out). Ever since he shed “bad Reggie” in the 2020 playoffs, he’s been the man. So I’m going with him. Though I do think he’s played over his head during that time.

It’s a weird question, since obviously there’s a big drop off after #1 and #2. But that’s not a bad problem to have. I mean, do we want to talk about who’s the 3rd best player on the Hornets?
