I think that he fits well, and will do even more with Kawhi’s prolonged absence.

Sign him already.

I think that we can see further improvement from him, even defensively.

I mean they ended up with Rondo, so maybe he was their “guy” all along, but I recall at least we thought they could go after some bigger salary guys like George Hill and Lonzo, but the hardcap made it difficult.

Beverley, Rondo, and Kennard’s salary are able to bring back some big salaries. Zu and Mann and Detroit 2nd rounders are probably available as the young assets to add to a trade.

I was thinking Barnes would be a nice target. Feels like he’s underrated based on the teams he’s played for. Always liked his game. I guess you’d be worried a little about how he’d look in like a 3rd or 4th offensive option, would be like playing more of the role he did on the Warriors. I also assume with this option, maybe you’re thinking more Morris at center and HB at the 4.

I wouldn’t mind going for Kevin Love. Seems like the biggest name out there and at this point, his contract isn’t bad at all. To me, just a big gamble on his health. I think he finished the season healthy, but it’s been a while since he’s proved he can play for an extended period of time. With his salary, you’re probably talking Beverley, Rondo, and Kennard to match, which is maybe doable, but would suddenly need to address the guard depth.

I’ve always liked the idea of Horford, but I feel like the Celtics are going to give it every effort to make a run with Horford back though. I would be surprised if he’s moved, especially as a salary dump. Horford always seemed like a switchable center who can stretch the floor on the other end that would fit more in their “small ball” role. I mean of course the hope is that that guy is still Ibaka, but Horford would be a solid option to try too. At his age though, hard to give up much for him, especially not Zu.

The other guy I thought about is Steven Adams, who wouldn’t help with the “small ball”, but I’ve always liked him. I was surprised though, looking at their statistics, Zu is pretty much as good in every category (or way way better in FT%). I think I’d have to watch more of his games to see if he would actually be an upgrade at all, especially as I think Zu is only getting better.

Regular season, the Clippers have always done fine, but it is that pesky post season that have gotten us. This year was pretty amazing, and if we didn’t lose Kawhi and banged up Mook, we most likely would have advanced over the Suns. The FO and Ty Lue did a pretty good job. Could we have done better (like draft Michael Porter Jr. instead of Jerome Robinson)? Yes, but hindsight is 20/20 for drafting after the 6th pick.
