The only reason he’s not playing is China.

Either way, extremely tall guy who can help Zu get some rest here and there is OK for me to have on the team.
And the guy can catch some lobs and put backs. Our PGs will love throwing it up there for him.

Freedom is a solid rebounder and post scorer, but he can’t move his feet defensively and doesn’t block any shots. I’d much rather have Whiteside for the Clips. Hell, I think I’d rather have Boogie (who at this point in his career is a similar type of player as Freedom), since we’ve already seen him play here.

Freedom can rebound and is overall better than any other C.

He’s an absolute sieve defensively and isn’t even a deterrent at the rim – he can score in bunches though, I’ll give him that.

Plus, although the CCP does deserve a crapton of criticism for their horrible record on human rights, Freedom’s whole anti-China thing always felt like more of a marketing ploy/audition for his inevitable transition to Fox news contributor rather than an expression of any genuine deeply held beliefs.

It’d be nice for Balmer to step up and sign Freedom who is the hands down best available center. I doubt the Clippers, Kawhi, or PG have much popularity in China anyway.

Kinda hard to evaluate him based on his performances on a tanking OKC, but he’s still reasonably young, so hopefully he can develop w/ us going forward. Dude has the length to bother shots and throw down lobs, and really, I could see either of Brown or Moose being ok for the 5-10mpg that we’d need to give Zu a break for.

That being said, why is Hassan Whiteside still available, and why are we (and every other team w/ a need at backup C) seemingly not interested?

Of course, there’s the matter of them having Westbrook, Bev, Nunn, and now Schroeder, but I assume they’re still trying to move Westbrook…
