Zubac got in foul trouble so Green had to step in and Green getting his rest rather needed or not led to Trez getting solo minutes. Late second quarter run of game 7 was a highlight of this in which Noah getting some kind of minutes to avoid Harrell on the floor

This is a former DPOY. Sure he’s old and had an achilles injury, but Jokic is no athletic Anthony Davis. Jokic is a slow, but cerebral player. Noah could have definitely harassed Jokic for 10 minutes a game while Zubac rested and be more effective than Green defensively.

One other question and I know it prolly sounds stupid as hell but, gallo is free agent Trez is a free agent.
Hypothetically, gallo can only be SnT by OkC correct?
Gallo can’t say to another team hey I want to be a clipper but they don’t have cap room to sign me for what I’m asking. So a team like Charlotte or Atlanta can’t SnT gallo to us for Trez
Double SnT trade correct?
The team the player last played on can only SNT trade that player right?

The Clippers might get a backup-level guy or a second-round pick and a trade exception–better than nothing, but not an actual upgrade. Kyle Lowry ain’t coming through that door. More realistic is that if a team like Chicago wants Trez and can’t make the cap room to sign him outright, the Clippers might be able to get something like Cristiano Felicio’s expiring deal and a 2nd-round pick.

The other tricky bit is that when a guy gets a big raise and is signed-and-traded, a rule called base year compensation fucks up the trade math. Basically, Trez’s outgoing trade salary for LAC’s purposes would be the greater of 6M or 50% of his new deal (depends how much you think he’ll actually get). But for incoming trade salary for his new team’s math, his salary is his new salary.

So if he gets a starting salary of 12M, the Clippers are technically only sending out 6M–meaning they can only bring back 7.6M, but the other team is receiving 12M, meaning they need to send out like 9.5M. Closing that gap can be tricky, because adding outgoing salary from the Clippers’ perspective, like McGruder’s 5M deal, would then push the other team over the amount of salary they’re allowed to bring in.

That’s where Noah’s contract comes in. Just as you’re always allowed to sign a guy to a min deal, even if you’re over the cap, you can always acquire a guy signed using the minimum exception via trade. So that adds 2M to the outgoing # for the Clippers to allow them to bring in the 9.5M guy, but doesn’t count for the other team’s incoming purposes.

Let’s say for instance Trez + Bev + mgruder or something if the salaries matched for Kyle Lowry ? (Just throwing a pretend trade out there)
Ahh yeah
We assume we get a center by then
And that makes sense to let noah try out for another team or rumors already circling that he joins Donovan in Chicago.

Noah could definitely come into camp with LAC, that’s an option allowed by the non-guaranteed deal. Part of me figures that if they know he isn’t going to make the roster–like if they sign a veteran C ahead of him and end up with 15 guaranteed deals and he’s the 16th guy with a non-guaranteed deal–they’ll give him a courtesy cut before camp so he can get into camp with a different team where he has a shot at making the roster.
