But, they gave playing time to three ball-handling guards this year, and the other two are rookies on cheap deals. They want to stay flexible for 2021 to add a star free agent.

How this run changes that calculus for Miami is unclear. There’s probably a 90%+ chance he stays.

We’re just throwing shit at the wall.
Dragic could easily get 15+ As well as other coveted free agents(ibaka gasol JMG etc.)
But we don’t know what teams are willing to spend or not spend in the post covid market. Also we don’t know what the final cap number will be.
Arrison doesn’t come off as a cheapskate owner and if Miami wins it all I see no reason why Miami doesn’t do everything in there power to bring everybody back in a prioritized order of course.

But why would he leave Miami for LA? They’re the better franchise with a great city + after his performance in the playoffs I bet he gets 2/30 from the heat.

I love Me some JMG But if we had a choice of adding ibaka or dragic I’m going with the latter. And in the case of adding dragic over both of em that would be a dream come true.
I imagine ibaka/Gasol would be an easy recruit for kawhi and co if they want out out of the cold ass north. But hey like you said with bird rights substantial money talks the talk . And it’s not like the raptors are some bumb non playoff team!
Your actually getting me excited for there are some FA / trading possibilities for us coming soon. We’ll leave it that so that we can have some content come time.
We can also trade our much valuable 2nd round pick come draft night! I know alotta teams are going to be drooling over that pick lol. In all seriousness with the pick if there’s somebody we like atleast we can try to develope them in the g league or as a 2way player. Christ knows we could use any and all help we can get in the coming years without any draft capital!
Lastly Let’s get Patterson’s exit interview so I can say how doc should have given him a shot against Dallas and Denver when Trez was stinking it up . Patterson to return for the minimum would make me atleast a little bit happy with what we’ve gone through . I’m not kidding he’s a positive lockeroom dude hope he returns.

At that point, it comes down to recruiting (Doc, Jerry, Kawhi, LA factor, etc) and a guy wanting to be here, because the bird rights rule in the NBA means the money is almost always better when you stay put

Just worrying about the lakers or other contenders warriors/nets/nuggets/Celtics
Etc trying to lure JMG with a mle type offer. I imagine if we let Trez walk the least he could do is get a non tax player mle, but that’s another discussion. I bet clutch goes for atleast 10-15 per year contract for him

In theory if everything went perfectly and Green opted in to 5M and Morris re-upped for cheap and Trez walked, the Clippers MIGHT be able to swing using the non-taxpayer MLE. But that would hard cap them and they’d have very little wiggle room, especially if they wanted to make a bigger trade for a higher-paid guard. The full MLE scenario is possible but I’m not considering it very likely at all.

So as long as that doesn’t happen, the only way Green’s salary could impact the Clippers’ ability to use the taxpayer MLE would be if LAC acquires a signed-and-traded player (signing-and-trading Trez to another team makes no difference). Trading for a S&T guy imposes the hard cap, at which point depending on all the variables (what the new guy’s contract is, what Morris gets, etc) the Clippers could be too close to the hard cap to both give Green a bigger deal and use the taxpayer MLE. But, again, that’s pretty unlikely.

In reality, unless the Clippers make one of those moves to trigger the hard cap, they could give Green as big of a deal as they want and still be able to use the taxpayer MLE to add a center.

So I’d be good as well with the 3\18
3/24 as long as that meant we maintain the possibility of having our own tax payers mle hopefully for a center.
