You mean to tell me that the guy who played his way out of Toronto’s rotation in 2018-19 and then literally did not play in the NBA last season–that Jeremy Lin–is a wash with Patrick Beverley, the guy who had multiple 8-figure offers last summer and was on an All-Defense team last year?

Lin was good through 2017, but only played 36 games in 2016-17. Since then he’s played 1 game in 2017-18 for Brooklyn, attempted a resurgence getting minutes on the terrible 2018-19 Hawks but graded out as a replacement-level player, then couldn’t get minutes after a trade for the Raptors and wasn’t in the league last year at 31 years old.

He’s not beyond consideration for a minimum-salary deal but you’d need to get him in for a workout to even be comfortable with that at this point.

Bev is a better defender and a better spot up shooter, but for all of the pros that Bev offers on the defensive side, Lin provides just as much if not more on the offensive side. If anything, I wish we had Lin over Reggie Jackson this past season.

I don’t know much about him, but frankly, those numbers, and the fact that he’s been in the league for a while now lead me to be perfectly cool w/ him as a 2nd/3rd string PG. Doesn’t look like he’s much of a shooter, but then again if he could shoot 3’s he probably wouldn’t be a realistic possibility lol

McConnell’s $3.5M deal to save money and free up playing time for Aaron Holiday. The Clippers have a $3.5M trade exception from the Jerome Robinson trade last deadline, and I’d love to give the Pacers a 2nd round pick to take TJ back. He isn’t much of a shooter but he’s really capable of running the offense in a depth role. Last year he averaged 5.0 assists and 1.4 turnovers in 19 minutes a game. His usage rate was just 17.5% but his AST% was a crazy 37.6%. Just for a quick comparison, Reggie’s numbers with the Clippers: 21 minutes a game, 3.2 assists, 1.6 turnovers, 19.1% USG, 21.3 AST%.

He might be good for helping mentor Mann.

Clearly the team liked him enough to get him on one as soon as he went undrafted last year. I haven’t seen enough to move him to the 15-man roster yet, but he’s allowed a 2nd two-way year (players can be on two-ways for two years with the same team, or 3 years total) and the team can decide after another year if he’s worth nabbing a 15-man spot. Unfortunately if there isn’t much of a G-League this year two-way guys could be in for a spotty ride without playing time in between their NBA days, but they’ll still definitely get a camp with him and he’ll have opportunities to get some run in as wing depth I’m sure.

The best case scenario is he breaks out and either has his deal converted, signs a new team-friendly multi-year deal, or hits restricted free agency next summer and can be kept for cheap (think Ty Wallace as an RFA with LAC). The worst case scenario is he doesn’t do much this year and the team gives him a non-guaranteed deal and a shot in camp to earn the 15th spot on the roster next fall.
