I actually really LIKE the Kennard pick up, despite losing a likeable player in Sham.

Kennard comps favorably in his age 23rd season to the likes of Klay and Hayward, and while those projections may be optimistic, he does still already come in with more established consistency than Sham, some similarly decent IQ, and upside for a young player the Clips do not have in droves following the PG trade last season.

still would probably prefer DJ Augustin, but I feel like he might get more than the Clips can afford.

Wanamaker is a solid backup. He would be great for the min if possible but because he hasn’t been in the league long his minimum is really low, so he might want some exception money from somewhere

I think I’d feel the same about him as I do about Kris Dunn – just swap out a bit of perimeter defense for better shooting. I’m really surprised Boston didn’t make him restricted though (ditto for Chicago with Dunn).

Payton is waayyy better than Reggie and it’s not even comparable. He actually distributes the ball, rebounds and tries hard on defense.

I’ve always liked Payton. I think he’d be a solid piece. Complete non-shooter, but a good playmaker. Wouldn’t be mad for him as like a Reggie replacement.

He must have a good deal, multi-year deal lined up somewhere–maybe Knicks or Hawks–that is enough to turn down 1/34. 3/60? That would actually be good value for his contributions if he has a bigger role (not behind Tatum and Brown) and stays healthy.
