That is definitely interesting. Even last year I felt like he was a huge regression candidate. You don’t see those huge leaps in 3-pt shooting sustain, especially after a change in the system. I expect him to drop back down to maybe at best around 34-35% from 3-pt range, which is worse than Danny Green was in a bad year for him.

That being said, there’s more to basketball than shooting the 3, and Schroder does so much else, even if he suffers from a regression, he’s still better than any of the role players they had this year.

It’s coronavirus. If Kawhi Leonard isn’t enough to get people to watch Basketball F ’em. I really don’t think Steve is going to put all his chips on the table the year we question if fans can attend games. Hope I’m wrong.

My hope is Ricky and Serge but it’s much safer to invest in asses in the seats than rings. I just feel like the market for Russ is being driven down by all the rumors and despite the clumsy “fit” there’s no question he’s an upgrade over Bev and the marketing spectacle cannot be dismissed. They could straddle the fence of being in contention while at the same time increasing revenues to transition to the new arena. I hope I’m wrong but just trying to keep it real.

We’ll be allowed to spend a fresh $5.6M starting on Friday when free agency opens. I agree that trading in to get Fi wasn’t a good trade. Time will tell when Fi’s career plays out but looking at this class, I’d way rather have pick 19 and get a guy like Cole Anthony than have traded it for pick 27 and Fi last year.

But buying a pick here doesn’t cost us anything long-term. It’s a freebie.

I just think the odds of it being worthwhile are low. It’s not my money, so as a fan should I really care? Well, all costs are opportunity costs … so if you can do something better with that asset (in this case “cash”) then you should. For instance the swap for the Fi pick last year … we’ve lost the opportunity to find someone better (I personally don’t think Fi will ever be a useful NBA player).

I don’t expect that whoever LAC gets will become a serious player but as I said in the post, there’s 3 relatively common outcomes: a David Michineau, who never plays; a Brice Johnson, who washes out of the league quickly; or a Sindarius Thornwell, who is useful depth short-term. Then, there’s a very small chance of getting a guy who has a solid rotation career and a one-in-a-hundred shot at finding a good career starter.

The odds aren’t great, which is why 2nd round picks get thrown around in deals so much, but if I had the choice between a lottery ticket and no lottery ticket, I’d take the lottery ticket.

As always, you never know. Paul George or Hayward … sure. I wish. But hindsight = 20/20, etc. My point is that unless we have a lottery spot, we usually get a Brice Johnson. I’m don’t value those draft slots over the assets we have to give up, even if it’s only Ballmer’s money.
