One historic night (against the worst defense in NBA history) does not a changed player make; look no further than RoCo’s 43-point, 11-three game against the zombie Bucks last year. No doubt that Luke is a great shooter (and a better one than Marcus Morris). I’ll need more evidence to accumulate before I”m ready to say that Taylor Jenkins is somehow the Luke Kennard whisperer that Ty Lue couldn’t be.

This year, only Plumlee and Westbrook come off the books. And you need to re-sign or replace them, likely at a combined rate that costs an extra 5 million.

Furthermore we gotta factor in age. Age 36 season in 24/25 for EG, Batum and Russ. I expect Westbrook to be of solid value for one more season. In 24/25 it could be a bigger gamble (or positively seen, a minimum contract if he’s only re-signed to one year which I doubt, two seems realistic wherever he goes). Pretty much the same may go for EG, Batum, RoCo and Plumlee.

Team gotta get younger and have an additional cheap contract on the roster. I’d like a draft pick for a player who’s not too raw and maybe enters the draft at 22 or 23. Those type of players could fit the range where the Clippers pick.

Evaluation of the older players (and their health status) gotta wait another year imo.

A matchup made for Mann, Kawhi and in terms of skillset (quick feet) for Bones (but Bones could be hopelessly outclassed so I would try him some while having a short leash).

Gotta bring it though, got a bunch of guys who can turn you over or get hot from 3 and Ingram is a tough cover where not having PG will hurt more than in over games.

Ingram is also the reason why I’d consider heavy minutes for Mann REGARDLESS of offensive performance. Mann should help you defensively vs BI to a much higher degree than Morris (and probably Gordon but not entirely sure about EG struggling with Ingram).

IF the spacing is there, I do like the matchup for Russ: he’s too fast for JV.

Gotta take care of the ball, shoot a solid percentage and rebound well on defense. That’s what I expect as keys to the game. Yourself?

He set the Memphis Grizzlies record for made 3s and scored 30 points. He did that in 24 min of play. How many points do you think Morris gives us in 24 min? Yes, Luke could’ve done that with the Clippers had the approach from Ty Lue been different. Taylor Jenkins got that performance out of Luke in just 17 games. Over Luke’s last 6 games, he’s 27 for 42 from the 3pt line (64%). Morris is 6/20 in his last 6 games (30%) and 19/47 from the field overall (40%).
