I really cringe when Boston’s in the game. Just very weak on NBA fundamentals. He can get a shot off but he’s way too careless with the ball. When we get enough guys back, I’d give him some more G league time.

But hindsight is 2020. God, imagine if instead of one of those wasted Patterson years we had signed Coffey. We’d be sitting pretty with that guy right now instead of a probable walk away with nothing in return. Crud!

It would have to be a team that thinks a backup c of Hartensteins caliber is worth a one year rental I suppose. A dice roller. Maybe a team with an injured big? Obviously the situation is not ideal. I’d kill to have Hart on Justise’s contract as someone pointed out.
Maybe Hart is worth a play-in run to us and it is what it is?

Flom, can his contract not be paired with say…Ibaka’s? Are minimum deal guys not allowed to be packaged with other players? That would be what..11 million worth of salary right there? Ibaka’s is expiring.

Not at all. He’s a rookie second rounder, he’s not supposed to be a rotation-caliber player. The strengths are definitely strengths, but oh boy are the weaknesses weaknesses. I would definitely push back against calling him a bust, in fact I would say that he’s significantly ahead of schedule for the 51st overall pick–just not at “quality rotation player” yet

I got your point. Ibaka and Winslow have been in rotations for years, but injuries have them working their ways back. Hope they will.

Boston and Coffey would be in rotations for clear lottery teams, which is like maybe 8 of them in the league.

Still not bad for third string, considering that Winslow, Coffey, Boston and Johnson or all 25 or younger.

They’re deep with ideally (after Kawhi coming back) a bench of Bled, Kennard, Mann, Batum, and Hart. But I agree that this team isn’t particularly deep beyond that. Clips clearly prioritized high upside and youth over old guys on their last leg. Partially by choice, and probably partially that after Kawhi went down, I’m sure there were a lot of the ring chasers that didn’t consider the Clippers.

Serge’s name and reputation makes him overqualified as a 3rd stringer, but his play on the court so far has not. Still hope he’s still coming into his own, but if there is another team willing to trade him for his name/reputation, I think you have to consider it. Other guys like Boston, Keon, Preston, Scrubb, Coffey are clearly on the roster in hopes one or two of them pop and develop into rotation players, but I don’t think they’re there yet, but these guys are getting forced into the lineup in this crazy injury/COVID year.

Very well said, couldn't agreed more. Coffey has been crucified by a couple summer league game's performance. But then again, he's a spark for many comebacks, both from this and last season. While we're so short-handed, no less. T-Mann is another guy who has been increasingly criticised recently. That game 6 raise his expectation to a whole new level. Anyway, I also can't wait for Zu, Luke & Hart to be back. Without Kawhi & PG, we are not world beater. But if other guys are ready to play, I like our chance against anyone. Go clips!
