I do think he is a upgrade over Harkless on offense and his defense is close to what Moe gave us. Moe is definitely a better wing defemder, but the thing that concerns me is that he isn’t really much bigger. Harkless= 6′ 7″ 220 lbs while Morris= 6’8″ 218 lbs and he is more of a PF then a SF, but I’m not sure I like the idea of him as our small ball center, which is what Doc has been talking about since accquiring him. He played more SF with the Knicks and Boston, so how can we be expecting him to move up a whole 2 positions and hold his own against the likes of Embid who is 4″ taller and 60 lbs heavier. I like that he is tough and willing to do it, but I fear the results won’t always be in our favor. As long as we can get someone like Noah or antoher big center I’m really going to like this trade!

Integrating a new member shouldn’t be too hard, heck, we’re still trying to best integrate the players that we had in Nov. 2019. Hope this trade works out for everyone.

To me this move is not unlike what the Lakers did when they brought in Ron Artest to push them over the top against the Celtics. Artest was obviously a defensive stopper but his manic/mercurial temperament ended up being the difference in that classic game 7. These types are valuable in short doses and the team will decide whether another year of it will be worth the price. The floor spacing should be absolutely deadly.

Morris is an upgrade, but more importantly he didn’t end up on the Lakers. The Lakers inability of getting a legit stretch 4 will be a major handicap down the stretch.

Whilst I think he is an upgrade for our team, I think the most important thing here is that he didn’t end up on the Lakers. Morris would have given them the option to play AD at the 5 and add another somewhat decent shooter at the 4 to the mix. Even if Harkless gets bought out and ends up with the Lakers, I wouldn’t be too worried. They can add him to their collection of decent defenders that suck at shooting.
