He just plays like a Clipper. ESPN has some highlights of some of his assists, Morant/Curry style. He looks like he has an absolute joy for the game. I’m pretty sure Lue will play him, he could light a fire on this team with their sometimes dull play they are prone to.

Hoping he’s not TO prone and has good fundamentals (e.g. 2 hand sharp chest passes vs. lazy lobs). Also think that TMann, Preston and Boston have to be a tad worried right now about a minutes/opportunity crunch with Bones on board. But, as the new guy, he’ll likely take what he can get now and like it. But as time goes by, his track record tells me he’ll wanna edge ahead of guys. And I for one hope he succeeds.

The other, less fun, way of looking at it though is that draft picks are often more valuable than the players that are actually picked. If we could actually get those FRPs back, we’d have an easier time trading for a star than we would with Bones, Mann, Coffey and the other guys you mentioned. Still, I totally get what you’re saying and agree with all the reasons you give it an A+.

The picks we gave up for PG were/are likely to be in the 20s insofar as we will probably be a good team one way or another for years. So the FO mission was to bring in young talent that could perform to those expectations. Guys drafted in that range are certainly no guarantee to be NBA stars so if you end up with solid rotation players via smart 2nd round selections or trade deals then you’ve filled that void. With Terence we definitely replaced one of those 1sts. With Bones almost certainly too. Coffey’s talent level could easily be a high 20s pick and there’s still hope for Boston and Moussa to pan out. If so we will have done a yeoman’s job of adding young talent while rolling the dice on the 213 plan. Especially if bones pans into another Jordan Poole or Anfernee Simons—which is highly possible.

All the spacing should completely open up the court for him and he would have a ton of help on D. I also wanna see him play with PG/KL/Batum/Zu.

Definitely added the highest upside young guy on the roster who feels like right now his range of outcomes can be as low as like Marshon Brooks to as high as… Allen Iverson (haha).

Obviously projects to be a scorer in the Lou Williams mold, but going to be hard to play that role on a team with Norm Powell entrenched as a bench scorer for at least a few years. Normally you’d feel great about being able to bring him on slowly and letting him learn, but that seems to be where there was some issues with the Nuggets. Hopefully being in LA, and working with a player’s coach like Lue will get him more to realize that the minutes and shots have to be earned. Hopefully he does earn those minutes, because the Clippers have a bunch of solid vets, but no one near a 3rd star or someone Bones should automatically have to concede minutes to, but still will have to play at a much higher level than he did with the Nuggets to earn those minutes.

He’s talked about showing that he’s more of a true point guard, so will be kind of interesting to see if he can live up to that. But Lou also was always known as primarily a scorer, when he really always was a point guard for the Clippers. If he is able to really play the point, I think he sees that as the most likely spot where he can earn time on this team and distinguish himself from the other scorers.
