I was still hopeful there was a team out there that would give up a 2nd rounder to take a flier on Ibaka, based on his name value, and he was playing better as of late. I think given his talent level right now, he should’ve been worth a 2nd rounder. I assume the front office explored all those options and they just weren’t out there. But given all the other pieces in the deal just feels like Clips should’ve gotten something back. Bucks got 2 picks in the deal, one of those couldn’t have gone to the Clips? Or, I mean the Bucks gave up Divincenzo in the deal, and I would’ve easily rather had him. Or feels like there was even a path they could’ve gotten back Bagley.

But if this was all about shedding salary, then I guess not much else they could’ve done. Not my $40mil(?) to spend, and they already took back money in the Norm/RoCo deal, so can’t blame Ballmer for not wanting to spend tens of millions of dollars on a guy that is at best a 3rd stringer.

Can any of our TPE’s absorb Tomáš Satoransky or J Lamb?]]> It’s for sure frustrating that we didn’t in the very least net a single damned 2nd, but if we somehow pickup a buy out guy that contributes we’ll feel better about moving him. If that doesn’t happen we have awhile to see what his TPE becomes. Anyway you look at it not a perfect trade. Really wish/still have hope 🤞 that Ballmer ate/eats🤞 the 40 million and picked/picks🤞 up someone who helped/ helps🤞 us reach the play-in/ served/serves🤞 as an expiring salary matching piece in the off-season.

I realize he hasn’t been what we hoped for, but Serge did provide mostly adequate play when Zu and Hart were out. He’s obviously not as good as Hart, but I think he’ll still be useful to Milwaukee (especially w/ Brook Lopez still out), so I’m disappointed we couldn’t get anything of value (e.g. 2nd round pick) for him other than an extra roster spot (assuming we cut Hood and Ojeleye). Ultimately this doesn’t move the needle either way really – Serge isn’t gonna be the difference between the 6th seed and the play-in or a 2nd round exit and a Finals appearance – but I was hoping the Clips could get something for him, even if it was just a 2nd round pick, or a younger end of the bench player we could get a look at.

The Clippers dumped salary to avoid the tax, but significantly helped a championship contending team in the process without even getting back a 2nd round pick. Until they actually cut the 2 benchwarmers they got back, this move deserves no more than barely above failing.
