He needs a shooting coach to fix his shot. A good shooter misses long or short. Kobe missed off to the sides.

Shooting isn’t his only problem. He is too short and not athletic enough for his position.

He always struck me as someone that had a great feel for the game. Solid handle, good vision for a big man. To me, he was on a long list of guys (including guys like Jason Preston and Brandon Boston), who were a consistent 3-ball away from an NBA career.

Hopefully that shooting for Kobe continues in Indy. He definitely strikes me as someone who is maybe just very streaky, and when you’re in a position of playing 10 minutes a night and given 2 shots a game, it’s hard to get into a rhythm, and the pressure of hitting that 1st shot or getting pulled is too hard. I think getting on a hot streak early in Indy, earned him a long leash when he went through some dry spells. Also of course them tanking and just needing to see what they got in him. If they do intend to be a contender next season, maybe he goes back to a lesser role, and it gets harder to make those shots. Hopefully he at least got the confidence that he can make the NBA 3, and he can show he can be a solid bench guy, even if it’s only 10-15 min/night.

At the bare minimum, he played well enough to earn another NBA contract, which is really great for him.
