Especially some of these lean Laker years with Lebron where they were scraping the bottom of the barrel for talent, you’d think they’d try and team up. Makes me wonder if they all know, it’s fine to get along with CP on a personal level, but playing with him competitively might not be the best thing for their relationship.

On one hand, he’s a franchise legend, a 1st ballot HoFer, and was great enough to be the standard-bearer for PGs in the generation between Steve Nash and Steph Curry. On the other hand, he was an epic flopper, was responsible for one of the most boneheaded, heartbreaking brain farts in Clippers history (the last minute choke against OKC), and is widely known to be an irritating prick on-the-court, often even towards teammates. On one hand, he was almost certainly a prick this season despite being washed, but on the other hand he was also probably right about the “leaders” on this team (Ty, Harden, Kawhi) being too laid back despite being 15 games under .500. Ultimately moreso than wanting to assing blame, I’m just bummed this reunion didn’t work out, and it really feels like all it would’ve taken to work was a slightly more mature approach from everybody involved. Then again, is there anything more “Clippers” than unnecessary heartburn and wasted potential?

I kind of doubt we’ll find out much more. Maybe in like 10 years, or whenever CP finally gets his jersey in the rafters. I’m not holding my breath for anything else on this matter.

I couldn’t recall if he was traded for anything or just cut. Man, there was a lot of drama this season.

CP3 is the perfect highlighter for the disconnect between the FO and coaches. Ty Lue and even JVG suck as shown at the end of the season.

It was also bad luck that all the players in front of CP3 went down. However, even at the end of the bench, CP3 wouldn’t clashed with the inept coaches. He called out the obvious stupidity on offense and defense of the coaching staff. If Ty and JVG could swallow their egos, CP3 would’ve helped the Clippers win.

If anything, I feel like it’s something that spiraled. The more losses, the more CP felt he had to be vocal and be a leader, the more annoying he was, and the more losses piled up. It’s really too bad. If the product on the court was better to start with, I don’t think it ever gets that bad in the locker room.

I really don’t know who I would put the blame on. CP is who he is, so while easy to say just be quiet and enjoy the retirement tour, we all know that’s not who he is. I want to blame CP, but at this point of his career, anyone expecting him to change is just fooling themselves. I’m curious how much the front office got involved before publicly sending him home. Did they really do everything they could to keep his behind closed doors?

I don’t know, I feel like this FO has been good about keeping things underwraps, that I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. I just feel like publicly sending him home had to be like a last straw

He’s abrasive and annoying – we knew all that about him! Him being as petty as he has been about all this is irritating, but I place more of the blame on the front office and coaching staff for handling the whole thing unprofessionally.

I think most fans still have a soft spot for CP. Even fans that didn’t like him, seemed to soften their distain for him with the notion of him coming back for one last go around. Seeing him emotional and the fans really getting behind him in his first press conference gave me all the warm feelings. Who knew what a nightmare this reunion would become.

I wish both sides could’ve just been the bigger man and he could’ve rode out this season on the bench as a farewell tour. I don’t think we’ll ever know who is really to blame, but I do think LFrank knew how bad a look it was to send him home. I don’t think they make that kind of decision willy nilly, so definitely must have been at a point where it was already untenable. I have to think they made that offer to CP to just be quiet and sit in corner and enjoy the retirement tour, unfortunately nobody puts CP in the corner.
