If we get him, good. Just don’t pay too much for him.
But if we don’t, balancing the roster by swapping out some guys (MM, etc.) and playing more under-utilized players like RoCo, etc. and we should be actually good to go.

Harden is old, clearly on the decline, frequently underperforms in the playoffs, only has 1-yr left on his deal, probably wants a max after this year, and has openly said he wants to play for the Clips – we’re bidding against ourselves here. I’d be willing to do Norm (who Philly could actually use), MM, one of Batum/RoCo, as many 2nds as it would take or a heavily protected 1st (that’s likely to turn into 2nds), and that’s pretty much it.

“From Saturday night, Amick reports:
“No matter what signals the Sixers might send when it comes to trade talks, a source close to Harden reiterated that the 10-time All-Star and former MVP no longer wants to play for Philadelphia and has no plans of taking part in training camp.”

I fully believe the accuracy of Amick’s report based on James’ his track record. He’s not going to be bullied by Morey so this could get pretty ugly. It mite be time for the Sixers brass to lower the boom on Morey and force his hand. Of course, James not taking part in camp will/may have its own set of ramifications for James and could cost him dearly. But it seems that James is a guy who feels so effing wronged that he simply will not give his all to the team that wronged him, no matter how much $$$$ he stands to lose. You have to give him some kind of respect for that, don’t you? This saga is not over — not by a long shot. If I were Terance, I wouldn’t apply for an LA Country Club membership just yet.

Loved to read this and couldn’t agree more on Boston and Toronto. Brooklyn I view slightly better but they severely lack quality depth/minutes with regards to playmaking. New York is interesting to me as I’m a huge critic of Randle and believe moving him for a solid return would propel them forward within a year and a half. Otoh, I like everything else they have been doing and am intrigued to see how Brunson/Hart keep up and how their youngsters further develop.

Philly – they’re walking a fine line between very good and potentially imploding. Rooting for chaos lol. Embiid completely lost me with his game 7 and especially his attitude.

Like you said losing Smart and Williams was not good and while I like KP I just think at the end of the day Tatum and Brown have too much Paul George syndrome to ever get over the hump. Don’t get me wrong, I like both players a lot but they are too “nice” to ever be the #1 option like Kawhi is on a Championship team.

I don’t get all the hand-wringing about the Sixers when they still have Embiid and a burgeoning superstar in Maxey who could very well turn out to be another Jamal Murray. I almost feel like they would be better served to get Harden out of there and the ball in Maxey’s hands. I won’t speculate on any of the Clipper trade packages but Philly should still be excellent and have a shot at advancing to the ECF.

The Knicks should be fun again and I think you nailed that assessment.

Also spot on re Toronto. R.E.B.U.I.L.D.

I do believe that Bridges could break out as a sleeper superstar for Brooklyn kind of like Kawhi did to where once known as a defensive glue guy he might erupt into a dominant two way force. The signs are there anyway. So I’m going to up their ceiling a tad.
