It’s not like TY will develop him. He’ll be benched for a 36 yr old player on one leg.

The only way I can see this is PG13 gets a sign and trade this summer, all the old players get traded or don’t come back, and (MAYBE) Kawhi gets the Blake treatment mid season.

Kawhi can still fetch a good amount of draft picks or young players, any team will bet on Kawhi and his impact.

Collect draft picks, young players, and force TY to play the youngins.

Whereas wallowing with a young team has lower expectations.

So to say it another way: would we rather wallow in mediocrity with higher expectations or lower expectations? Easy choice.

The core is stale … it needs to be disassembled and rebuilt. Let PG13, Harden & Plumdog walk and use the contracts of PJ, Westbrook, Norm & Coffey to get younger, more athletic two way players.

As mentioned previously there is a third option and that’s to move our stars for some younger decent players AND some 1st rounders. Of course these 1st rounders won’t be lottery picks but they would be in the same range as every other team who has a good season but doesn’t win the chip. With enough bites at the apple you might land a Brunson or miracle ourselves a Joker so to me this third way is the only way.

We should be looking at this in reverse to where the actual binary choice is to wallow in mediocrity running it back with old guys and no picks or wallow in mediocrity with some fun young players and later 1st round draft picks on the lark that we might strike gold. This is a no brainer when presented this way.

(Lowest mpg since since his season)
Dude is good help defender with his quick hand. And overall looks like a good dude to be around.
I don’t think we sign him back and I guess he don’t want to do that either.
Quite a wasted opportunity for us and generally for basketball fan.
Him and Batum should be formidable PF tandem if we still have them, use them properly and they are healthy to play.
That ship has sailed. Hope we use Brown, Kai & Moose the way we should.
Let them show their true value. It’s worth the try.

But really, I think most of us would’ve been fine w/ 5-15mpg for MM here – the issue was Ty was playing him almost 30mpg his last year here, to the team’s detriment.
