He needs a legit opportunity.

I like Norm a lot but we can’t aggregate contracts in a trade and his is the only one that could bring back a quality PF. Then Terence becomes that athletic help for Bones in the second unit. We could always let PG walk which would give us our MLE and allow for aggregating contracts. But I’m not confident the deals are out there to make us better than we would be keeping PG.

But he is also one of the few trade pieces the team has. I agree that it all comes down do what the team does with Westbrook. If he comes back, Bones is gone. If he goes, Bones should stay, although there is the awkward fit with Norm to work out.

I just keep wondering what happened–why he was so careless with the ball in the 5 TO game. Is it all about mental immaturity? He melted down in Denver but I thot he was beyond that.
How bout a Bones interview 213 staff and see what he has to say?

My main observation in addition to the ones already discussed is that other teams seem to hunt him on defense, largely due to being undersized. That was the biggest problem for him in the New Orleans and Atlanta games, as well as last year in the playoffs against Phoenix when PG was out.

I guess it will probably come down to whether the Clippers want to sign him to an extension. If not, he’s probably going to be moved. But it’s hard to see how they get younger if they give up on young talent and keep the 30-somethings who will only decline over time.

Then you can focus on putting size, athleticism, and defense on the second unit as best as possible.

He showed us a much improved drive and ability to generate paint touches. He’s stronger than he looks and wins his share of loose balls. His deep 3 is legit. He lacks poise and confidence at times, but I think he’d look very different with Ty Lue giving him regular minutes over an 82 game schedule. He has hit double digits in a playoff game when he was with Denver. I think he deserves a season where he gets legit playing time so we can see if he can show emotional maturity on the court.

In the 13 or so games where he played real minutes, he averaged around 17/2.5/4 and shot around 45% from the field. There’s a player there who can either be developed or packaged in a trade to address the deficiencies at the #4/#5, but I’d rather keep the younger, athletic guard and sell high on Norm Powell.
