He never went for it. He never lived up to his potential for us. Perhaps he will with Memphis.

Eg is a very smart player. He doesn’t have unforced errors like Reggie and Wall. He has enough left for this year. He is a “positive” while we dumped 3 negatives. I liked Reggie, Luke, and Wall but they didn’t help us win consistently.

I am actually excited about Bones Hyland. If memory serves me well, Lou Williams didn’t play defense either. He’s only 21 or 22 and can score a lot. he and Norm can put opponents on their heels.

With Plumlee anchoring the second unit, he plays with Batum and Covington. That’s pretty good. Then you have Norm and a combo of Bones or EG.

I like what the clips did and we gave up nothing of value.

They upgraded and filled the need at backup C without giving up much. They got rid of Wall for a pretty meaningless pick swap. B+

Clippers send out:
1st round pick swap
3 second round picks?
Wall
Reggie
Luke

Clippers get:
2 second round picks?
Bones
Gordon
Plumlee

Bones replaces Reggie: Clear upgrade

Gordon replaces Luke: Not an upgrade on paper, but a clear upgrade in reality. Luke is the league’s best shooter that doesn’t shoot. Gordon will shoot. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Plumlee replaces Wall: HUGE upgrade and finally fills the backup C hole.

Defensively, Bones and Gordon are a wash for the players they replace. Plumlee is a HUGE upgrade.

Offensively, all 3 are upgrades. Bones and Gordon are capable ball handlers who can create their own shots effectively keeping the ball OUT of PG13’s hands.

All the Clippers lost are effectively a 2nd round pick and a 1st round pick swap in the upcoming draft for 3 better replacements.

Now if only Craig is made HC, considering how Lue mismanaged half of the season, it may be a no lose anymore at this time.

It is not logically possible to outscore the powerhouses of West. A defense first coach is needed who will rotate the players based on merit. And perhaps infuse steady doses of cutting plays(!!), ball movements, quick offense instead of over dribbling, weave, pull up jumpers, 3s, ISOs … and, veer away from PG playing point. Mann or Roco can do it better.

Norm, Mann, Zu, KL, Nico, Zu, Roco plays efficiently within their own game flow. PG is forced into playing the 1, which harms him and the team, it is not his game DNA.
PG in catch and shoot, ball movement, is lethal than him bringing up the ball then taking long jumpers, mid jumpers himself, without passing.

Let’s see how these new players fit.

I remember the day when we drafted him out of Indiana. The upgrade is that he knows how to play and will shoot.
Luke had so much potential, but he doesn’t have the confidence.
