Big enough sample size with all 3 to rank their viability for an end of bench spot (in that order).

Kobe should get a two way at the least. He’s shown more than moussa.

We didn’t draft MPJ when we could’ve/should’ve (a move that was stupid at the time, not just in retrospect) and shouldn’t have traded all we did for 2 weeks of Eric Gordon and the chance to get whitmore.

Hopefully Kobe ends up being a good one and we can see in future how he and whitmore compare.

I’m complaining about the poor asset management by the FO. We traded away a youngish (but flawed) player in Luke, and a bunch of draft slots for an older guy who we knew wasn’t going to make *that* big of a difference even if we were being as optimistic as possible, and on top of that the FO just let him walk for nothing because they couldn’t figure out a way to trade his contract and wound up releasing him for nothing. And *then* on top of that, he winds up signing w/ a Western conference rival. Horrid transaction to begin w/, and made worse as time has gone on.

The reality thus far hasn’t made him seem like a can’t-miss addition. A few SL games with some guys he met last week are maybe less useful to evaluate him than a full season sample in France, and it’s worth remembering that Europe’s best leagues are filled with guys who are stars on their teams and not NBA players.

I guess what I’m saying is that I’d be happy to have him on the two-way but I’m also willing to accept that I’ve bought into more hype than substance so far w/ Morgan, so I won’t lose sleep over the team going another direction.

Going from being a Pistons blogger to NBA 2nd round pick — that is just a crazy route.

Maybe, Preston needs some time playing overseas. Seems like Moon and Matt Morgan really grew into their professional playing-selves during their pro careers outside the NBA.

What do you guys think about giving the 2-way to Matt Morgan?

How is Kobe Brown going to fit in our rotation?

We have quite a crowd at the 4: Morris, Nico, Roco, KJ and now Brown.

Who is actually going to be in training camp?

Who is Ty Lue going to play at the 4?

Hopefully, Kobe Brown continues to improve and can help our team win games.

Kobe Brown really put it all together in this one. I’ve been high on him since the draft and I think he’s played well in all of the SL games. He’s rebounded well, moved his feet on defense well, made the right pass and taken the right shots. He moves without the ball well and understands spacing, how actions work and where he can make an impact. His 3 ball form looked good even if his % was low in the first 3 contests. The difference today was him playing off the ball, looking opportunistic and looking to shoot the ball instead of passing up shots. I think this kid can play. From a raw skill level standpoint, he already looks like a more serviceable player than Morris and could slot into the PF rotation if the Clips find a way to unload the logjam of over 30 players at that spot (well…..unless Daryl Morey wants to sweep him up as part of a Harden deal).

Xavier Moon – the more I see him the more I think he can be a 3rd guard on a team somewhere in the league. I really like the way he shoots the jumper. There is so much rotation and spin on the ball that it always ends up on target. If he misses, it’s usually b/c the shot was short. It’s not a hard shot that careens off the back iron. He shoots it off the bounce, catch and shoot and off of step backs.

Wallace and Thomas also played well in an all around manner and were on the floor for a good part of the Clips’ big 2nd half comeback to win the game.

Jason Preston – he remains an enigma coming out of the SL. He had some eye catching plays in this one…good rebounder, good finisher on straight line drives in the open floor, moves without the ball well, high level passer. But his lack of aggression or understanding of how he needs to be the guy who impacts the game in the half court set can make him a liability. The coaching staff pulled him for most of the 2nd half and the team played better without him.

Preston, to me, appears to have a high ceiling and low floor. He has certain skills and potential as a floor general where I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he did end up as a top tier guard in the league, but his lack of aggression or understanding of how he needs to impact a game (especially in the half court) could see him end up as a journeyman who plays in multiple countries or just out of basketball entirely. He is not experienced or developed well enough to get real NBA minutes. He’s a good player, a good teammate but he’s not a dawg (yet) and I don’t think he understands how good he might be or what his game really is. If he does remain with the team, he needs to shadow Russ the entire season, fetch his water, and beg Russ to be his Mr. Miyagi. There’s some real talent in that kid, but he doesn’t quite know what he is yet, and he hasn’t displayed the drive or fire that we often see among guys who stick in the league.

Jordan Miller didn’t have a good game today and overall his SL performance was somewhat below mid. It looked like it was all new to him and he struggled to find his place, his space and make an impact.
