I don’t really care what they do. I have a really hard time seeing them work from the position they’re in to a true title contender. I SUPPOSE Kyrie probably gets them closer than any other deal to be made, so sure whatever keeps them out of the Kyrie sweepstakes is probably better, but even with him, still think they’re a few solid pieces away from being a title contender.

If the Nets are crazy and give them like Joe Harris with Kyrie, then you’re starting to feel warm on them having enough to be a contender, but if the Nets worked things out with KD (they do have him under contract), then there’s no reason to strip their team of all their supporting cast.

Honestly if they’re really championship or bust, their real move would be trade Lebron, but we all know that’s not happening.

yea I mean even 2012, they MADE the playoffs. They were being touted as the favorites to win the championship and ended like 8 games under 0.500. Last time the Clips has less than 33 wins was Blake’s rookie year with a fat Baron Davis. The Lonzo/Kuzma/Randle Lakers managed to get 35 wins in 2018. It’s so hard to fathom going from a title favorite to 33 wins.

I mean even if you factor in the missed time by Lebron and AD, it’s still not great. I think with Lebron playing they were 25-31, on pace for like a 36 win team. With Lebron AND AD playing they were 0.500, good for the 9th seed?

I like PatBev for them and I do think getting younger will be better for them than last season. Definitely can’t be MORE disappointing than last season, but even with perfect health, really hard to imagine them improving that much too. The amount they rely on Lebron is just crazy, and for him to be going on 38 is worrying. I mean he’s still awesome when he does play, but at this point I can’t imagine you can expect his body to hold up over 82 games + playoffs. They need to make the playoffs and factor in a very load managed schedule for both Lebron and AD. Can they win maybe 40 games with Lebron and AD only playing 60, and then another 5 or so with them resting the remaining 22? At least 45 wins should get them a spot in the playoffs/playin.

I dunno – I get that they’re phenomenally talented and all, but their two best players are also Charmin soft and extremely unreliable for various reasons. If they hit a minor bump in the road – say like a little 3-4 game losing streak – I could see them blowing it out of proportion in the locker room and/or airing out grievances in the media and turning that minor bump into a huge problem.

I was a light clippers fan in the late 90s, but that series really got me invested in the team. Such a fun team with great chemistry and heart.

I think the Nets win a lot of a games this year. For all the drama, I think they’ll start off the season winning and that should cure enough of their drama until closer to the post season. Even without simmons, that team is elite and would have a hard time consistently losing games.
