Interesting matchup.
Jokic is a handful, he can shoot any kind of shot and he can really pass.
I guess we will hear a lot about MPJ in this series.
The only thing I wish for the team right now is health.
If we are fully strength, we will be fine.

This is a very good and comprehensive preview. Well done! I believe that things like that should be sticked as a top article on the page for a while, just to generate more discussion. I saw this one go down two spots quickly after it had been published. Anyway, thanks for the great job!

Personally, I believe that the Nuggets will give us a good fight. Offesively, they have many more weapons comparing to the Jazz, and defensively they are much better armourded on the wings (I remember Grant and Craig making Kawhi’s life a bit more difficult at times) than the Mavs were.

Anyway, I also think that it’s good to face an offesivelly challenging rival with a deep roster in the second round to “find a way to get better” on the way to the promise land.

Interesting thought about Porter.. he could have changed the dynamics of the PG trade. If that was the case we would have one additional asset. So the thought that we couldn’t have traded Jerome … we’ll, we’d have a better asset to trade or maybe might not have needed Mook at all. It’s an alternate universe I have yet to visit.

Media asked porter jr about being passed by the clippers in the draft and he said it was the clippers doctor that said he would prolly never play again because of his back. He seemed maybe a like he would of liked to have been a clipper maybe? But said he will enjoy playing against us. He better get some icy hot for his back because mook is not gonna be gentle with him and neither of the other clippers Players that guard him.
In hindsight I don’t know if we would of been able to keep him out of the pg13 deal or Morris deal to keep him a clipper anyways! It is debateable that maybe we could of sent him in to OkC and given one less pick/swap etc. but on the flip side the risk of him never playing would of hindered our chance/chances at getting possibly getting Morris where Jerome was actual healthy even though I sort of busted prospect. So I think we did just fine with where we’re at right now. Doc commented on passing on porter jr As well. Just thought it was interesting so I’m passing on the info if somebody to see it.

Denver did look gassed, so will be interesting how this series kicks off. Clips definitely got a kick in the butt in the 1st round, and I think were starting to look like they were playing playoff basketball in games 5 and 6 of the Dallas series. Kawhi looks like he can score 30 without breaking a sweat, but I’m sure the extra days of rest will help him, especially as he’s expecting to go to Round 3 and 4.

I personally wanted to avoid Denver in the Denver/Utah matchup. I definitely think Jokic is guy that will be a tough cover for the Clips. Stretches out the Clips defense, which is already suspect at times. I definitely think there’s going to be some interesting matchups to watch in this one. I suspect Zu will be given the first opportunity to take on Jokic, but definitely could see Morris and/or JMG taking on that task as the series wears on. Zu I think will also have to be big on the offensive end. I feel like the Nuggets defense can be had on the interior, so will be important to take advantage of that.

I feel like the Clips are going to come out playing with a purpose in this series and put them away in 5. I was pessimistic in the Dallas series (and ended up being right), but for some reason more optimistic in this series. Between the Clips starting to look like they could really pour it on offensively, and Denver looking pretty tired, I just feel like the Clips aren’t going to take these series lightly and start really playing up to their potential.

I’m still nervous about the Joker and MPJ getting cute from three on us. Fortunately they don’t have the bevy of three point marksman to compliment their bigs the way that Dallas did. Will there be a Bol Bol sighting? That’s another wild card Malone could throw at us. Hopefully their legs won’t afford them the opportunity to light us up in any dangerous way. .

Agreed. Zu, Sham and MM should also feed. I think the offense should primarily focus on Sham and Zu to put a ton of defensive pressure on Jokic and Murray. Sham can really make murray run around a lot on D and Zu can play very physically with Jokic.
