They closed the season pretty well but I’m not worried about Portland at all, and Boston got worse on defense but needs more offense with Tatum out the year so I get it for them.

That being said, it’s unlikely that the same roster will overachieve as much as it did this year and all the “quick fixes” Frank wanted to keep us treading water are going elsewhere – first Durant, now Jrue. It’s like the basketball gods are practically begging us to admit defeat and start recouping our assets, but I’m sure we’ll just run it back with the addition of 80-year-old CP3 and make the shocked Pikachu face when he and Harden choke in the playoffs like they always do.

In fairness, Frank needs to go before we rebuild anyway. I wouldn’t trust him to extract maximum value in a Kawhi, Norm or Harden trade or make good use of any assets we get in return.

Clippers get:

Devon Vassel
Stephon Castle
Keldon Johnson
Harris’s Barnes (filler)

It would be a gamble for the spurs on Kawhi’s health but if he were to hold together, a lineup of Fox, Kawhi, Wemby and Zu would be devastating.

Meanwhile, we reboot our present nightmare entirely with a promising young core.

I get that they need some veteran leadership but his contract is really bad and they actually gave up a couple 2nds in addition to Simons to get him. I guess they’re better right now and that’s all that matters to them, but I wouldn’t have wanted to give up draft assets when it wouldn’t take that much (e.g. an injury to Jrue) to derail their season.
